Some Winnicott's contributions about his reflections on the mother's role

Lic. Analía Stutman - Chile

I plan to go through the basic Winnicott concepts with regard to early human development, its intimate link with the mother-child relationship and how the individual’s constitutional process may be altered when such an experience is inadequate or insufficient. This journey has the double attempt of emphasizing the importance of that period of life and the day to day processes as much as its qualitative leap towards clinical work with children.  In other words, the use of metaphorical concepts in linking the work with children, which is never a successful task if parents are not sufficiently “good enough” in supporting and accompanying the therapeutic process.

KEY WORDS  : holding-handling-object presentation-mother and father’s role in mental development
